New taxi apps such as Tappsi make getting from point A to point B much more stress free these days. The regions covered in my book are generally considered safe for visitors. Have a great trip! I traveled in Colombia for 2 weeks in September and used the new Moon Colombia book. It was an excellent guidebook, very thorough and full of useful suggestions and tips. I did find 1 error when the book said to walk east to find the Camino Real trail in Barichara.

You have to walk west. Not a big deal as I quickly realized that I was on the wrong track. Hi Andrew, thank you for your reply about safety, I only saw it now but bought your book anyway a few weeks ago.

Depart from Medellin in the morning and make your first stop in a small town called Guarne, where you'll Antioquian hot chocolate or coffee and a traditional arepa with homemade farm cheese for breakfast.
